Nay Bamboo NB-C-01 Do Scale

The Nay Bamboo NB-C-01 is a finely crafted traditional Middle Eastern flute, made from natural, high-quality bamboo. Its body is smooth yet with enough texture to retain warmth and resonance. The bamboo’s internal bore is tapered to allow clear tone production from the lower registers up through the higher notes.

Tuned to the Do scale (the equivalent of “C” in Western notation), this nay produces bright, pure, stable pitches that make it ideal for both accompaniment and melodic lines. It incorporates six finger holes along the front and one thumb hole on the back, giving the player wide flexibility over pitch, ornamentation, and microtonal nuance.

Its bamboo construction gives it that characteristic warm, organic timbre—rich in overtones and expressive in softer dynamics. The NB-C-01 responds well across the dynamic range: from gentle, breathy passages to loud, cutting tones. Because of bamboo’s natural variation, each instrument is slightly unique, contributing to its charm and character.

Lightweight yet sturdy, with protective tying or reinforcements (bands/ties) to help the bamboo resist cracks or splitting. The finish is natural or lightly polished to preserve the bamboo’s feel, and the mouthpiece is carefully shaped for good airflow and embouchure comfort.

This model is suited for learners wanting a solid, traditional instrument tuned to “Do,” for performers who need reliable intonation in ensemble settings, and for anyone seeking that authentic bamboo nay sound with flexible expressiveness.
